This Privacy Policy describes how Pankaj Gaikar (“we”, “us”, “Service Provider”) handles information when you use the Universal TV Remote mobile application (“App”) for iPhone and iPad — a local-network remote for compatible smart TVs (including Android TV / Google TV, Roku, Samsung Tizen, and LG webOS where supported).
Saved devices. IP address, brand/type, custom name, port, and related connection settings for TVs you add or pair are stored locally so you can reconnect.
Pairing credentials. Tokens or client keys issued by a TV during pairing (for example Samsung auth tokens or LG client keys) are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.
Preferences. Theme, haptics, sounds, app icon choice, last connected device, touchpad preference, and similar settings are stored in on-device preferences.
Optional diagnostic logs. If you use in-app log export, log text is generated on device and only leaves the device if you choose to share it (for example via the system share sheet or email).
Commands (volume, navigation, app launch, text input, and similar) are sent from your device to your TV over your local network using each brand’s remote protocol. We do not operate a Universal TV Remote cloud that relays those commands.
The App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to record crashes and non-fatal errors (for example pairing failures, unreachable devices, or failed remote commands). These reports help us fix reliability issues when we cannot reproduce every TV brand/firmware locally.
Reports typically include app version, device model / OS version, error type and message, and coarse context such as TV brand and command name. We intentionally avoid sending TV content, full local IP addresses, and contact details in Crashlytics keys. Google’s processing of Crashlytics data is described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.
The App may use Microsoft Clarity to record anonymized in-app session replays and interaction heatmaps (taps, navigation). This helps diagnose UX issues. Clarity’s processing is described in the Microsoft Clarity terms.
In release builds, the App may record anonymous usage events (for example device connected, command sent/failed, discovery outcomes) to improve reliability. Events are designed to avoid contact details and TV content. Debug builds do not send product-analytics events.
Crashlytics diagnostics (above) are separate from product-analytics events and may be collected during testing so we can improve support for more TVs.
Distribution and any optional paid features go through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes payment and account information under Apple’s policies. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Uninstalling the App removes on-device preferences and locally stored credentials created by the App. You can also forget/remove saved devices inside the App where that control is offered. To stop Local Network access, revoke it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. Crashlytics retention follows Google Firebase policies for the project.
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
The Service Provider is based in India. By using the App, you understand that information processed through Apple (App Store) and Google Firebase (Crashlytics, and any analytics provider if enabled in release builds) may be handled in countries where those providers operate.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
