Myra / A little help
Let's get you connected.
Most setup issues come down to network access, TV settings or a pairing prompt. Start with these checks, then follow the instructions for your TV platform.
First, the essentials
- Use an iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 17 or later.
- Connect the device and TV to the same local Wi-Fi network. A TV using Ethernet can work when it shares the same network and devices can reach each other.
- Turn on the TV and allow Local Network access for Myra in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi or router client/AP isolation. These can prevent discovery even when the network name looks the same.
- Follow the TV's pairing prompt and keep both screens available during setup.
Which TVs work?
Myra supports compatible Android TV / Google TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. The TV's operating platform matters more than the brand on its bezel. Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips and Xiaomi models may use different platforms; check your specific model.
Vizio and Apple TV are not supported remote-control platforms. Older non-Tizen Samsung TVs, older non-webOS LG TVs and other unsupported operating systems are not covered. Support for a platform doesn't guarantee every control on every model or firmware.
Android TV & Google TV
Choose your TV from discovery, then enter the pairing code shown on the TV when asked. Compatible Android TV/Google TV devices need their network remote service available. Check for system and Android TV Remote Service updates if pairing fails. Ensure the TV is awake and Myra has Local Network permission.
Samsung Tizen
Select your TV and approve the remote-control authorization prompt on the TV. If it was previously denied, inspect the TV's external-device or device-connection settings and authorize Myra again. Menu names vary by model. Network standby and power support also depend on the TV settings.
LG webOS
Select the TV and accept its pairing/authorization request. Enable network or mobile-device control if your TV requires it. Some models have settings named LG Connect Apps, Mobile TV On or TV On With Mobile; consult your model's manual rather than assuming all labels are present.
Roku TVs & streaming players
Check Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by mobile apps → Network access on the Roku. Allow the setting recommended by Roku for your trusted home network; it must not be disabled. Menu labels vary. Streaming players and Roku TVs do not offer identical volume, power, channel or input controls.
Fire TV & Fire TV Stick
On your Fire TV, find Developer Options under My Fire TV or Device & Software. If Developer Options is hidden, open About, select the device name and press Select seven times, then return. Enable ADB Debugging. In Myra, select the Fire TV and approve the debugging authorization prompt on the TV. Only authorize a phone you recognize on a trusted private network. You do not need to enable “Install unknown apps” just to use Myra. Disabling ADB debugging afterward will prevent ADB-based control until it is enabled again.
When something isn't working
My TV doesn't appear in discovery.
Confirm the TV is awake, both devices share a reachable local network, and Myra has Local Network permission. Guest Wi-Fi, multicast filtering, VPN settings or client isolation may block discovery. Use a trusted network and adjust only settings you understand; don't disable network security broadly. Try scanning again. If needed, use Myra's manual entry with the TV's current local address and correct platform.
Pairing was rejected or keeps asking again.
Watch the TV for a code or approval prompt. Confirm it before it expires. If you previously denied access, check the TV's authorized-device list or network-remote settings. Make sure you're selecting the right TV and platform. Only forget and re-pair the saved TV after these checks; doing so may require another authorization.
It was connected, but now commands fail.
Wake the TV, verify Wi-Fi and choose Reconnect where Myra offers it. A TV's address can change after router or TV restarts. Discovery/manual entry may need to reflect the new address. Returning to the App doesn't guarantee the TV is reachable, and a network-send result isn't always confirmation of the TV's action.
The keyboard, app shortcut or power button doesn't work.
Features are capability-aware and depend on the platform, model, firmware and active TV app. Focus a text field on the TV before typing. Enter/Search differs from sending text, and Close doesn't submit. App shortcuts require compatible, installed apps and may vary by region. A TV with network access disabled in standby may not wake. A missing or unavailable control does not mean every other feature is unsupported.
My Apple Watch says the phone or TV is unavailable.
Myra on Watch requires watchOS 10 or later and your paired iPhone. Open Myra on iPhone, select and connect the TV, then retry on Watch. Keep the iPhone available and able to reach the TV. The Watch relays supported commands through the phone; it doesn't independently discover or pair with TVs. Background delivery depends on Apple's lifecycle and network availability.
Can I control my TV away from home?
Myra is designed for local-network TV control, not an internet remote service. Don't expose TV remote ports or Fire TV ADB to the public internet to make it work remotely.
How do I remove saved data or revoke access?
Remove saved TVs in Myra and clear local logs where available. You can revoke Local Network permission in iOS Settings and revoke the phone's authorization using your TV's settings. Keychain entries may survive uninstall, and uploaded provider diagnostics are not deleted by clearing local logs. See the Privacy Policy for the full boundaries.
Still need a hand?
Email pankajgaikar.dev@gmail.com with your Myra version/build, iOS version, TV brand/model/platform and a short description of what happened. Mention whether discovery, pairing or a particular command failed.
In the App's Help flow, you can preview a support diagnostics report before sharing. It includes bounded, sanitized reliability information, not a request for passwords or pairing codes. Review any attachments yourself. Don't send credentials, private network details, personal TV text or unredacted screenshots.
Myra is independently built. We can't promise support for every TV model or a particular response time, but clear steps and safe diagnostics help us investigate.
